More on The Hoop House

The hoop house has worked well this summer, but the dahlias and tomatoes inside have not been the best.  The dahlia blooms were few and late, and a lot of the tomatoes had blossom-end rot.  I think I need to do a better job of prepping the soil next year.  Getting the dahlias in earlier would be good too.

There were quite a few tomatoes, but sadly not too many usable ones.

You can see the dahlias on the right, lagging far behind the tomatoes.

  1. One method of pollination is to hit the strings with a stick. This shakes the flowers and drops the pollen.

  2. Good to know, Chris. Do you think it’s necessary?
